NIGERIA EROSION & WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PROJECT (NEWMAP)

NEWMAP is a World Bank assisted project that is being implemented by Federal and several states government where the gully has impacted negatively. The NEWMAP, project is in different components which are; Resettlement Action Plan through compensation, Gully stabilization by civil work, catchment planning-bio remediation, water harvesting, alternative livelihood implementation, Climate change adaptation and other related activities for sustainable environment. Serving as the Umbrella NGO that coordinates the activities of State Focal NGOs (SFNGOs) by ensuring Social Coordination, capacity building and training the SFNGOs as Training the Trainers, monitor their activities and then reporting to the Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU).

GENDER BASED VIOLENCE (GVB)

Gender based violence (GBV) affects different demographic groups including women, children, the youth, the elderly and the physically challenged. It has devastating consequences at social, economic, and personal levels because of the physical injuries, psychosocial harm and general loss of productivity across different spheres. In spite of a fairly robust law and policy regime on gender based violence in Nigeria, it is important to note that such acts are deeply rooted in cultural as well as social norms and the belief systems which emerge from them. Therefore, they can only be renegotiated through ongoing advocacy, coordination and monitoring in addition to the implementation of existing frameworks

SKILL ACQUISITION & ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT

Empowering women, young girls and youths through skills acquisition for economic enhancement to reduce abuse, exploitation and rural-urban migration- supported by Japan Embassy and Irish Aid.

SESAME STREET WORKSHOP

Sesamestreet workshop was funded by USAID to sensitize and educate orphans especially children who lost both parents due to HIV/AIDs that live in orphanage homes and schools for healthy living, avoiding stigmatization and documentation of their family history which was managed by IFEHS in FCT.

VOICE AND ACCOUNTABILITY

Building capacity of Local communities to carryout Accountability, monitoring and reporting of procurement and awarding contract in due process in Orumba South Local Government Area –Funded by World Bank small grant –Nigeria

SOCIAL MOBILIZATION & PARTICIPATION

Community mobilization for Gender mainstreaming and capacity building for women and youth participation in Commercial Agriculture, National FADAMA III and Community Based Agriculture and Rural Development Programme as a tool for poverty alleviation among women and youths within 36 states of Nigeria. World Bank , IFAD- Assisted.

INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTHENING

Several Institutions capacity has been strengthened for effective implementation of projects and institutional management. The projects include; Cooperate Management for the Ministry of Health Kaduna State sponsored by Path2 /DFID Project cycle management for staff of Commercial Agriculture Development Programme/World Bank, Capacity Strengthening for Local Government staff on project management and administration, participatory procurement across five 5 states; Enugu, Cross-River, Kaduna, Kano and Lagos. Developing and training of communication strategy for Power Holding Company Building the capacity of CSOs /CBOs for effective engagement with World Bank
